The Zeppelin Project

Iconic Leviathan of the Metropolis: Giant airships were once synonymous with the height of civilization. These majestic creatures floated from continent to continent, metropolis to metropolis. Wherever they cast their shadows, people looked up in awe. Inside, well-heeled passengers dined on white linen and looked down on the world below.

Then came that fateful day that spelled the end of the era. On 6 May 1937, the Hindenburg approached Lakehurst, New Jersey, and sailed into pyrotechnic history.

We'd like to offer a picture of that era as part of Metropolis- a giant airship docked above an observation tower, where guests can enjoy fine beverages and dine on white linen while looking out over the vast playa Metropolis. Then, at the appropriate time, another piece of pyrotechnic history will take place...

Note that the Zeppelin is tethered but rotates around the tower as a windvane. This keeps the nose always pointing into the wind.
